While high-up, executive roles are largely dominated by males within the leisure and tourism industry, Biblio Travel has invested in a high-profile female UK management team to drive the UK tour operation.
Here’s a little background behind the all-star ladies that have been appointed to drive the business:
Clare Tobin, Managing Director
The team will be headed by Clare Tobin as Managing Director of Biblio Travel UK, who has a strong, proven travel industry background, having specialised in running a number of established UK tour operating businesses over recent years.
Clare spent the past three years as CEO for Olympic Holidays, an independent UK operator of holidays to Greece and the Mediterranean Islands. During her tenure, Clare was awarded with the prestigious “Leader of Change Award” at the 2018 IBM iX everywoman in Travel Awards in recognition of making a significant contribution towards the strategic direction of the business through best practices, employee engagement, improved productivity and innovation.
Before joining Olympic Holidays, Clare worked 17 years with TUI Travel/First Choice Group where she held senior Board positions whilst managing the UK Specialist and Education sectors, which included brands such as Hayes and Jarvis and Sovereign Holidays. In her earlier career, Clare was responsible for contracting and product enhancement in Cyprus and brings extensive commercial acumen, tour operating experience and industry skills to Biblio Travel.
Ruth Hilton, Deputy Managing Director
Biblio Travel have also recruited Ruth Hilton as Deputy Managing Director reporting to Clare. Ruth has over 25 years’ experience in the UK travel industry and has extensive tour operating experience from her Airtours days, as well retail trade experience gained from senior roles with Coop Travel, Goldmedal and The Travel Corporation. Ruth will be joining from her current role as Commercial Director for TAG.
Ruth was added the Association of Women Travel Executives list of Most Influential Women in Travel list in 2018.
Tobin said: “Ruth is well known and respected in the UK travel industry. Her strategic approach to Sales, Commercial and Marketing, along with a drive and passion for travel, will be crucial to our success”.
Hilton added: “This role represents a fantastic opportunity, launching in a pandemic, bringing more capacity to the UK market, and being backed by an established and trusted leader to Cyprus”.
Tina Hodge, Sales Director
To complete the all-female UK dream team, Biblio have appointed Tina Hodge as Sales Director. Tina has recently returned to the UK following four years in the UAE managing Trade and Direct partnerships for Emirates Holidays. Before this Tina gained a wealth of Tour Operating experience in senior account roles in Gold Medal, Thomas Cook and Airtours Holidays.
